Applying for a China Visa Read This First

If you are planning to travel to China, please note that the China visa process in India has changed from 22 December 2025. The procedure is now more online-based and a little strict, so understanding the steps properly is very important.

How the New China Visa Process Works

Earlier, documents were checked directly at VFS. Now, everything starts online.

First, your China visa form is filled online, and all required documents such as passport copies and supporting papers are uploaded online itself. Along with this, VFS service fees must be paid online, and the payment receipt is also uploaded.

Once the form and documents are submitted, VFS checks everything online.

If any document is missing or incorrect, the application is sent back for correction

If everything is fine, VFS confirms it and sends an email with an Application Certificate.

Please remember, this confirmation does not mean visa is approved. It only means your documents are acceptable for passport submission.

After receiving the confirmation email, you must submit your original passport at VFS within 15 days. Old passports may also be required if you have them along with any additional documents asked by the consulate

On the day of passport submission

Embassy visa fees are paid at VFS

Optional services like Premium Lounge can be taken if required

Visa processing starts only after passport submission. The Chinese Embassy will then review the application and take the final decision.
